Miku’s Hair Color - Why Is It Mainly Green?

Miku’s Hair Color - Why Is It Mainly Green?

Hatsune Miku, the 16-year-old electronic idol, is known for her iconic twin-tails and futuristic style. Her name, a mix of "first," "sound," and "future," means "the first sound of the future." However, there's one thing people often get wrong—the main hair color that defines her.

Miku is often described as a "turquoise-haired, pigtailed girl," and this description comes from her original design by KEI. When Crypton introduced her, they made it clear that she was the "green-haired VOCALOID," even before Gumi’s release for Internet Co, Ltd. While Miku's hair isn't a pure green like Gumi's, it definitely features a mix of predominant green tones, with certain shades and hues that emphasize green.

Turquoise, which is a blend of green and blue, is the main color in her design. The use of white, pale blue, and green helps create that calming, soft shade. Together with other colors like teal and cyan (and many other blue-greens or green-blues), these shades contribute to the futuristic vibe that Miku represents. Turquoise typically has an RGB value of 64, 224, 208. The different variations of turquoise, such as pale and medium shades, tend to have a higher green component than blue in their RGB composition. This balance is essential to keep turquoise distinct from similar colors like cyan or aqua.

The middle is absolute turquoise.
(Turquoise often looks more green than blue to most, because our eyes are more sensitive to green light, making it stand out more in the color mix.)

In certain Crypton-licensed media, particularly in storylines, games, or other representations aligned with her marketed image, she is consistently associated with the color green. For instance, in the Project DIVA series, her hair accessories, such as the “Green Cowlick,” emphasize her identity as a predominantly green-themed DIVA. But, Miku’s hair color often varies, reflecting different emotions, events, and narratives. Blue tones are typically associated with deeper, more melancholic songs, while green symbolizes her cheerful, energetic side. However, these colors can also shift or blend, with various shades of blue and green representing contrasting moods, either distinct or combined. It mainly depends on the creative aspect of the artist, and how they will perceive Miku’s hair tone and color, for the piece they are making.

Miku is mainly considered and marketed as a turquoise color, which tends to lean more towards green, earning her the nickname "Green Cryptonloid." Over time, as her character evolves across different songs, stories, and iterations, her hair color becomes a symbol of creativity, shifting in response to the emotions and themes she expresses. This gives her a dynamic, multi-colored appearance, shaped by the way people perceive her.

Turquoise has many shades, but this doesn't mean that the other shades are always more green than blue.

In conclusion, color is a spectrum, and Miku's hair can be varied with any depiction. But, it doesn't change the fact that her market, and in general self is considered more green than blue. KAITO is the true, pure blue Cryptonloid and Gumi is the true, pure green Internet Co. Ltd, loid.

2NE1 Hyper-fixation

2NE1, The Most Successful South Korean girl group known Worldwide

Where do I even begin? 2NE1 was the first music group I ever fell in love with at first sight. Normally, I’m not someone who gravitates toward K-pop—it's not usually my genre—but when it comes to music, I’m always open to new sounds.

2NE1, however, captured my attention instantly. Their diverse discography, bold fashion, and electrifying stage presence hooked me right away. From raw talent to striking visuals and unmatched energy, they have it all. 2NE1 is the trailblazer for every girl group that follows. They shattered the mold of what it meant to be a "stereotypical" girl group, breaking barriers with their bold image and sound. As the first all-female Asian group to debut on a global stage, 2NE1 was the reason for putting K-pop on the map and opening doors for everyone, or anyone.

                            Why I Love 2NE1

The reason I’m really drawn to 2NE1 is because I have a soft spot for older-generation music, especially from the late 2000s to early 2010s. That era gave us so many legendary releases, and I’ve always loved the experimental styles that came with it—hip-hop, R&B, pop, electronic sounds, EDM, and even reggae. 2NE1 embodies all of that. Their ability to seamlessly mix genres is what makes them so unique and helps them stand out in the music world.

I also really love their music videos—they’re all incredibly artistic, and you can genuinely feel the emotion, effort, and creativity that went into each one. When I listen to their songs, I can almost visualize the music videos unfolding beat by beat. Their music evokes a wide range of emotions, from upbeat energy to deep longing and sadness.

What makes 2NE1 even more special is how their music feels like it’s catered to everyone. Their name, "2NE1," is a clever pun—"To Anyone"—highlighting how their sound is for anyone in the 21st century. They have something for everyone. Even with the time that has passed, their songs are old, but gold or it can be ahead of their time. (The NE is for "New Evolution", as in the new evolution of music.)

              The Members, And My Thoughts

CL - The Leader

Chae-rin Lee, widely recognized as CL, is the leader of 2NE1 and serves as the main rapper, lead dancer, and one of the group’s lead vocalists. She’s celebrated for her bold charisma, unique fashion sense, impressive rap skills, and impactful music. CL’s contributions to both music and culture have established her as a big figure in the global music scene.

I really admire CL for her style, energy, and overall talent. She’s truly amazing—so organized and creative. I love her vocal ability; her voice has a tone that reminds me of an acoustic guitar, and it fits any genre perfectly. When it comes to rapping, her flow is well-structured and captivating, making it easy to resonate with her.

Park Bom - Main Vocalist

Park Bom, often simply known as Bom, is the main vocalist of 2NE1, admired for her emotional and unique voice that stands out. Her out-of-this-world vocal ability has left a lasting impression on many fans, showcasing her raw vocals, and natural talent.

Park Bom is one of my favorites! She’s really cute, both in looks and personality. I feel a strong connection to her more than anyone else. Her voice reminds me of spring fields, which is fitting since her name means "spring." Like CL and the others, Bom has vocals that can suit any genre. Despite everything she’s been through, I see her as a very strong woman and look up to her.

Minzy - Main Dancer

Minzy, whose real name is Gong Minji, is the main dancer of 2NE1 and sometimes takes on the role of lead rapper. She debuted at just 16 years old and quickly became successful, winning everyone over with her attitude and charisma.

Like Bom, Minzy has dealt with a lot of criticism about her looks. None of the 2NE1 members fit the traditional beauty standards, and Bom, CL, and Minzy faced the most scrutiny—even YG himself called them "ugly." Personally, I don’t think they’re ugly at all. Minzy has powerful, soulful vocals that blend perfectly with any song, and her dance moves really showcase her incredible talent.

Sandara Park - Main Visuals

Sandara Park, often known as Dara, is the visuals of 2NE1, where she served as a vocalist and rapper. She’s known for her charming personality and unique hairstyles, which have made her a standout in K-pop. Dara’s versatility as an artist allows her to shine in various genres, and her influence extends beyond music into fashion and entertainment.

Dara's voice is husky, bright, and soft, giving it a "chill" vibe that sounds almost youthful. But don’t underestimate her—she can switch to a mature tone in an instant! I really love her fun-loving, carefree, and sweet personality. She really stands out, and that's what makes her.. her.

Favorite Album

As I mentioned earlier, old but gold but it also applies here. "To Anyone" is my all-time favorite album—everything about it, from the cover art to the music, resonates with me. The color palette is so simple yet striking! This album marks one of their first full releases and features my favorite single, "You And I" by Park Bom. It offers an incredible mix of tracks that are perfect for dancing or just relaxing. I find myself playing this album on repeat every day and never growing tired of it! This album made me appreciate music even more.

                            Conclusion

I find myself listening to 2NE1 songs almost daily and watching their live performances as if I were right there in the audience. They’ve had a huge impact on me, inspiring motivation, imparting lessons, and igniting my passion for creating art and music. They help me discover my sense of self while providing something I can genuinely enjoy without losing interest. I'm so grateful I found 2NE1, and I’ll always be a proud member of the Blackjack fandom. Each member is an incredible role model and influential woman who paved the way for so many, including me.

(I LOVE 2NE1!!!)

Pilot - Len's Entry 01

Introduction

Welcome to my first ever blog post on here! I'm excited to use this space where I'll be sharing my experiences, hyperfixations, artistic insights, and random thoughts. While many blogs tend to stick to one theme or niche, I plan to explore everything that catches my interest. Think of it as a collection of life’s moments and musings—organized chaos, if you will.

To whoever’s reading this, hello! My name is Len, or Ren—either works, depending on how you pronounce it. I’m fluent in Bangla, though I’m not great at writing it, and I’m semi-fluent in Japanese, mostly understanding romanized words. (I guess it’s a bit ironic since English isn’t my native language..) I have a big passion for learning more languages, to communicate and connect with other people. Sometimes, you don't need language to bring others together, you can communicate with feelings and all other expressions of being human!

Defining.. Me?

Honestly, when I think about it, there’s no single word or label that fully defines who I am. I’m pretty much an open book—constantly evolving, shaped by anything I connect with, or how others perceive me. You could say I’m open-source in that way. I love music, singing, dancing (when the mood strikes), art, and video games. While I have other hobbies, these are the core ones that really capture the "general" me. I’d probably describe myself as an ambivert. How I interact with the world really depends on the setting, the people around me, and my mood at the time. I think most people adjust in similar ways—opening up when the moment feels right, and expressing their true selves through the things they love and feel deeply connected to. I’d also say my personality is pretty fluid, shifting depending on a lot of different factors.

My Message

I came on here as a curious venture on the internet, finding somewhere to write and express myself. I want others to peak into my mind and experiences. If some memories are hard to forget, why not make the most of them writing about it? My intention is to connect with others, however I can, find out what it means to be a "person", and express myself within those ways. I want to learn from all of you. (´◡`) It's nice to meet you all!

Thanks for reading,

(P.S. The band I'm currently obsessed with is called 2NE1, I definitely recommend you guys to listen to them, their music is very unique.)
